Who Is The Vegas Nerd?
Why Should We Listen To Him? (Introductions and Backstory)
Hello. My name is Kevin, but when I share helpful Las Vegas Travel information online people call me The Vegas Nerd. I am celebrating 15 years in Las Vegas and now sharing the crazy things I’ve seen and done here. But let’s talk about how I ended up in Sin City and my life experiences before arriving here…
The Army Years

Not going to spend a lot of time here, but years in Panama, Somalia, Egypt and Bosnia help you appreciate life in America (like sleeping in a bed in a room with AC, a microwave and a shower). I also welcome 120°F Summers in Vegas after -20°F Winters in FT Drum, NY. The Army gave me all the challenges and adventures they promised plus a new career.
The Nursing Years

ICU Nursing taught me time management skills, attention to detail, and how to handle the stress of keeping people alive. ER Nursing taught me the value of team work and that stupid people often do stupid things that send them to the ER. I also loved the three days “ON” and four days “OFF” during which I studied and played poker…
Welcome To Las Vegas!

My first 10 years in Vegas were a whirlwind of multiple fun, crazy jobs, often at the same time. One day (or night) at the ER, a couple of days as an armed casino bike officer, then dealer school and later dealing poker. These experiences are unlike any others in the US.
The Concierge Years

Eventually I left the multiple extra-board/part-time jobs for a position as a Concierge at an upscale Strip Hotel (resort). Did you know that hotels have employees who help you book shows, tours, helicopters, limousines, and make your dinner reservations? Your hotel Concierge can help you enjoy your stay in Las Vegas. If I recommend a hotel, show, tour or restaurant, my recommendations are based on my Concierge and personal experience. Life was good…until the pandemic hit.
The Work From Home TEFL Years

The pandemic literally shut down Las Vegas. The doors were locked and the famous neon lights turned off. It was a bad time, I lost my great job and all my friends moved away. Luckily I found an online job as an English teacher (Teach English as a Foreign Language). For the past five years I have helped thousands of students from around the world study and practice English - and every single student wants to know more about visiting Las Vegas!
